Gai-lan or Kai-lan is widely eaten in Chinese - Cantonese and Vietnamese Cruisine. The thick glossy blue-green leaves with thick and tiny stems create beautiful color of a dish. At the same time, it is crispy in mouth. The following simple recipe serves 2.
To replace the West Soy Sesame Peanut Tofu, you may brown or braise the plain tofu in prior to this cooking.
Ingredients:
100 grams of medium sized Gai-lan
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 small sliced ginger
2 small pieces of West Soy Sesame Peanut Tofu (comes with 4) , bite sized
1 tsp vegetable oil
Directions:
(1) Wash and rinse well the Gai-lan
Tips: bath in clean water with new cut, 15-20 minutes.
(2) Brown garlic and ginger in medium flame
(3) In medium to high flame, stir fry Gai-lan stem, 1 minute
(4) Add in the small stem and leaves of Gai-lan, stir fry for another 2 minutes
Tips: It's cooked when it is shinning and translucent.
(5) Flavor with little salt to taste
(6) Add in the West Soy Tofu, stir to mix
(7) Remove and serve
Note: Gai-lan used to cook with oyster sauce, but 1-2 Tbsp cooking oil just too greasy to consume.
