Train your child to be a helpful and responsible person

This is so great! You will see amazingly that your child can be your great helper willfully even in her young age. I am not sure is this her personality or what, but my princess, is so lovely in my heart. She can be such a hardworking helper in my house. Before she is turning two, she likes to get busy, busy like a bee. She wanted to be part of my house chores. That was the right time to get her in and let her enjoy her doing as part of helping me. From the least of getting things for me, to cleaning up her own toys, cleaning up her own mess, to helping in house chores like wiping table, hanging clothes, cleaning the windows etc. She is just my little great helper!

Three important tips to get your child a try, most parents begin with clean up toys:

         1. Make the work fun, yet manageable,
  • it is wise to direct your child into the work, for example, a clear instruction to 2-3 years old child: “come on dear, let's put this toy away, so that we can bring out new stuff and begin a new play”. This gonna to motivate your child to do it because she is excited about new stuff and begin a new play.

    2. Sing the nursery rhymes along with the work,
  • our big thanks to her BSF children class for teaching the song 'Clean up, clean up, everybody clean up', and the newer version 'Do you know what time is it, what time is it, what time is it, do you know what time is it, it's clean up time'

    3. Encouragement in verbal compliment or/and reward for the work
  • Praise her for what she does beautifully, and sometimes, reward her with sticker for a great accomplishment. Sticker is so fun, economic yet a great reward to motivate children in America. They just love stickers, sticker in the school, sticker in the church, sticker in the clinic, sticker at the dentist, anywhere you can think of.

So, my advice is start with small easy task and do it together with your child at the beginning. Never forget to give more positive enforcements in directing and guiding them into a helpful and responsible child. Be patient with your child, he/she might need more practices and longer time to get into this. Don't get frustrated easily, if they are not up to your expectation. Hope for a brighter change tomorrow.
